Favourite Quotes #2

One of my most well received posts on my blog is my favourite quotes post so I thought I'd do an updated version!

'If you've never fallen off your horse you haven't been riding long enough.'

This reminds me that everyone fails at some point and also reminds me that I should constantly try to push myself to achieve greater despite the fear of failing.

'Think of your inner voice as a radio station playing inside your head. You can change the channel; this is your radio and you can choose what you want to listen to. Be sure to tune in to an empowering and uplifting network rather than a negative or depressing one.'

This was from an article in the You magazine written by Sharron Lowe. The whole article was inspirational; however this quote was the best. It's about having a positive mental attitude and how you have the power to influence your thoughts and as a result change your future for the better.

'If the facts don't fit the story, change the facts' -Albert Einstein

In a way you can relate this to life; if things in your life aren't going great or aren't making you happy, then change them!

'Looking at yourself in the mirror isn't exactly a study of life' - Lauren Bacall
I really love this quote as I think that sometime people get too focused on the way they look rather than realising that your personality is much more important.

'If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door' - Milton Berle
This kind of has the same implications that Einstein’s quote does; you hae the power to change out comes simply by taking opportunities.

Tuesday Beauty Tip #9

This is my penultimate ‘Tuesday Beauty Tip’ and as you can probably tell by this tip I’m running a bit thin on inspiration! Anyway this was the best that I could come up with. When I wake up early in the morning my eyes are often quite puffy so I can’t do my make up (which is what I usually do first in the morning). So I always set my alarm clock for 30 minutes before I have to be up and I force myself not to go back to sleep. To make sure I don’t go back to sleep I dedicate the first 30 mins of weekdays to watching Hollyoaks on catch-up. This gives both my face and mind to wake up!

Tuesday Beauty Tip #8

I've recently started to fill in my eyebrows every now and then and I've found that I've started to become a perfectionist when I do. The hairs on my eyebrows are not very well behaved so I've come up with this tip myself. I heard that spraying hairspray onto your brows helps them to stay in place (that is its job after all)  however I found that you couldn't get good accuracy when I did that, in that ended up spraying hairspray directly into my eye. To help with this I spray the hairspray onto a mascara wand thingamajig then use that to help sort out my brows.

If you also have any beauty tips then I'd love to hear them!

Sephora Nail Varnish review

I was on holiday in France and on one of the days I had to stay in the chalet and revise (boo) while my family went shopping. They asked me if there was anything that I wanted and said that I would like a burgundyish (if thats even a word) nail varnish, and this is what they came up with and I thought that i would do a quick review...

Pros

  • It only needed ONE coat!!! The pigment really was amazing!
  • The nail varnish was touch dry within less than 5 minutes
  • The colour is really nice as well
  • They last quite a while without chipping

Cons
  • Although it was touch dry I'm less that 5 minutes it took a lot longer to become fully dry (even 3 hours after painting them I got hair lines in them when I went to bed!)
  • I know it's a really dark colour so I should expect it, but even with a base coat on it still stained my nails a reddish colour :(

Overall though it was a really good product! I can forgive it for staining my nails, that's the price you have to pay for awesome nails! And I can forgive it for taking forever to fully dry, but if I was wearing it for a special occasion I would probably put it on the day before to be on the safe side.

Tuesday Beauty Tip #7

Lately I've been feeling really tired. I think I was stressing over my exams, so as a result I wasn't sleeping as well as usual :( . I've found that this tip has really helped me! It sounds a bit crazy but it actually really helps. In the morning if I'm feeling a  bit tired I fill the bath room sink with cold water then... wait for it... I submerge my face in it! This really helps to waken up myself as well as my face and its really refreshing!

Tuesday Beauty Tip #6

I picked up on this tip a while back when I was searching for a way to speed up my nails drying. After you’ve finished painting your nails, submerge (what a cool word) them in cold water. I’ve found that this tip is not 100% effective, in that I doesn’t dry them completely, however it does speed the drying process.
