Favourite Quotes #2

One of my most well received posts on my blog is my favourite quotes post so I thought I'd do an updated version!

Image sourced from google images

'If you've never fallen off your horse you haven't been riding long enough.'

This reminds me that everyone fails at some point and also reminds me that I should constantly try to push myself to achieve greater despite the fear of failing.

'Think of your inner voice as a radio station playing inside your head. You can change the channel; this is your radio and you can choose what you want to listen to. Be sure to tune in to an empowering and uplifting network rather than a negative or depressing one.'

This was from an article in the You magazine written by Sharron Lowe. The whole article was inspirational; however this quote was the best. It's about having a positive mental attitude and how you have the power to influence your thoughts and as a result change your future for the better.

'If the facts don't fit the story, change the facts' -Albert Einstein

In a way you can relate this to life; if things in your life aren't going great or aren't making you happy, then change them!

'Looking at yourself in the mirror isn't exactly a study of life' - Lauren Bacall
I really love this quote as I think that sometime people get too focused on the way they look rather than realising that your personality is much more important.

'If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door' - Milton Berle
This kind of has the same implications that Einstein’s quote does; you hae the power to change out comes simply by taking opportunities.

Favourite Quotes

Image sourced from google images

'The only difference between a saint and a sinner is that a saint has a past and a sinner a future.'
This is a quote by Oscar Wilde in his play The Importance of Being Earnest. I think it sums up how everyone does wrong at some point in their lives, however if you work hard you can sort it

‘Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.’
If you’ve never watched Ferris Bueller's day off then you need to! I probably should have included it in my Film Recommendations post. And I obviously love this quote from the film.

‘Work hard success will follow’ and ‘Dream until your dreams come true’

Casually bunged two quotes together here but I love them equally. They kind of go hand in hand, work hard at your dreams and one day they will come true.

‘Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them’
No this quote is not originally from She’s The Man (although that is a great film). She’s The Man is a modern film based on Shakespeare’s play Twelfth Night , Or What You Will. This quote shows how big things happen some times and life changes but don’t be afraid of that change.

‘I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. You don't know what hand you're gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes to you... To make each day count.’
Oh I love Jack Dawson! Of course this quote is from the Titanic. I think everyone should live by this quote, because none of us know what’s going to happen next so we need ‘To make each day count!’

Wow I hope you feel fully inspired now, thanks for reading! XX

A Letter to the Past

Picture from google images

Dear 12 year old Hannah,

Put that pot of Maybelline dream matte mousse foundation down, I really don’t understand why you bought it. All it does is give you orange patches and dries your skin out! Also don’t go for that 2 for 1 one deal on the dream matte mousse, it’s not a good deal, I still have both those pots now (almost 4 years later, yeah I think I should throw those away.) Don’t think that that blusher is any better either. The aim is not to look like someone has slapped you in the face! Start practicing the piano more; you’ll grow to absolutely love it soon and you'll wish you put more effort in. Please stop being so shy, stuff what anyone else thinks. Believe it or not people actually like your real personality, even if you are a bit bazar. And you’ll be amazed at how much your friendship group changes. Your boobs will grow soon, don’t panic. Stop wishing your life away. Also remember to clean the bath after you’ve shaved your legs, the first time you shave it does look like you’ve shaved a gorilla! And finally enjoy yourself. You’ve got a few year before things get serious so have fun now.
Lots of Love,
16 year old Hannah

My List of 5 Film Recomendations

In Time
I found this film so cool. It's sort of like a SiFi new world kind of film. Basically the world is split into different sections based on how ‘rich’ you are. The world no longer operates with money; instead they pay for things with time. It quite hard to explain but as soon as you’re completely out of time you die. I really, really, really, enjoyed this film and I highly recommend watching it!

The Proposal
Wow I think this might be one of my most favourite films of all time. What happens is Ryan Reynold's character is forced to marry Sandra Bullock's character. It's so funny and a great film and I JUST LOVE IT!!!

Crazy Stupid Love
This film is amazing and it’s so heart-warming. There are loads of films set out in this way where there are different story lines, then at the end of the film they all come together, but I think that this one is definitely one of the best. The ending is so cool and I don't know about anyone else, but for me I didn't see it coming.

Magic Mike
You see Channing Tatum topless... do I need to say any more. Haha, I'm joking, obviously that is the first attraction to the film but behind that there is a really good story that grabs your attention.

Notting Hill
This I think might be my favourite film out of all of these. It’s about an average boy who meets a famous Hollywood star and falls in love with her. Some of the films in this list I admit are cheesy but this one definitely isn't. I can't praise this film enough and if you get a chance to watch it you definitely should.

Bye! Bye! XX

Organisation

I'm am now officially a sixth former and it's safe to say that it is a massive jump from GCSE's. While I was doing my GCSE's its clear that I wasn't the best at being organised. I spent plenty of lunchtimes and break times frantically copying homework from my patient friends, and lots of late nights trying to revise 6 months worth of work when a test I'd forgotten about suddenly popped up. For the most part it worked, it probably wasn't the most efficient way of getting through my GCSE's but I came out of school with a good set of results under my belt! Then A Levels started... And I realised I was going to have to organise my life. So here is a list of the tips and tricks that I've developed to help me keep organised and hopefully help you out as well.

Tip 1 - Boxes

I have on box for each of my subjects except Media which I don’t have many folders for yet. These boxes are amazing and they came in lots of different patterns and were 2 for £10 in the Works!

Tip 2 - An array of folders

Folders become your new best friend in sixth form. I started the year with one folder for each subject then that got too big so changed to a folder per two subjects then that go too big so changed to one folder per subject then that got too big so now I have around 3 folders per subject.

Tip 3 - Pots to organise use desk

You can get really pretty pots to use on your desk and I may change mine to more fancy ones soon. They are so useful and I even have one pot on my bedside table so I can do homework without ever leaving my bed (Lazy teenager tip!)

Tip 4 - White Board

This is great for writing important homework down so you hopefully don’t forget to do it.

Tip 5 - Post it notes

I think that these are handy for when you are borrowing a text book for school because you can write notes on them without marking the book.

Tip 6 - Colour coded stickers

I use these to colour code all my folders so if some get mixed up I know what subject it belongs to.

Tip 7 - An endless supply of file dividers

You can never have enough of these! They help so much at neatly separating your work out into sections.

 Tip 8 - Phone calendar

This is an amazing invention! I find this more useful that a school planner or wall calendar because I never check those as much as I check my phone. Also you can make your phone ring out loud when there’s something important that you need to remember.

I hope that at least one of these tips will be useful for you. I might keep reading this post in the future to make sure that I'm still sticking to these organisational ideas.

See you next time :D Bye! Bye! XX

What I Got For Christmas

I love Christmas so much and my favourite thing is all the decorations that get put up but I love everything about Christmas! And on Christmas morning I love seeing other people open their presents and opening all of my presents. But there is always one present that I can't wait to open... my aunties present. She buys a box and absolutely fills it to the brim with amazing presents! So this post I'm dedicating entirely to the presents I got from her this Christmas

Can we take a few seconds to appreciate how amazing the box looks! Its designed to look like an old book and is covered with thinks for Paris.

I think this bag looks amazing! It’s got two compartments inside so is perfect for a wash bag and I’ve already used it for when I went away over New Year.

These soaps smell incredible; it’s what I imagine an orange grove to smell like. I cant wait to use them but I don’t want to ruin them.

This torch will come in handy in July when I go and do my Duke of Edinburgh expedition.

I haven’t used this nail kit yet but I can’t wait to see how my nails turn out after I think it will be really cool.

This little owl has pink shimmery lipgloss inside and he's soooooo cute!

This hand and body lotion I think looks stuning with the shiny colourful packaging and it smells amazing.

This ring looks so beautiful and it fits me perfectly.

I’ve never had gems and sparkles to go on my nails but I’ve seen pictures on Instagram of amazing nail art and I’m looking forward to giving it a try.

These earing look so pretty AND THEY’RE SHINY!

Do I even need to say anything?

I never usually use eye makeup remover but I look forward to giving this a try.

WOW!!! Do I need to say any more?

I’ve used this almost every day since Christmas and I love it!

I’ve used this a few times under my eye shadow and it feels so smooth!

Liebster Award

I have been nominated for the Liebster award by Leyla from Leyla Writes which I am so grateful for, it was a while ago but I've finally got round to writing this post. I think Leyla's blog is really interesting and you should definitely check it out!

The rules are about the award:
1. Each nominee must answer the 11 questions that were asked by the blogger that nominated them and also tell their reader 11 facts about themselves.
2. You must choose other bloggers with under 200 followers to pass the award onto.
3. Then make 11 questions for them to answer.
4. Go to their page and tell them about their nomination.

These are my answers to the questions that Leyla asked her nominees:
1. What is your favourite childhood memory?
I have lots of great childhood memories but My favourite are all he times that me and my family went to stay in our flat in Devon and I remember my sister and I would wake up really early and my Gran would take us down to the sea front and we’d have an ice cream for breakfast.

2. What song sums up your mood right now?
High school musical-What time is it! Because even though I have been technically off school for about a month, now my Mum and sister are also on summer break now so it now really feels like the summer holidays, and that song is so cheery.

3. Who is your celebrity crush?
I have lost but my biggest crush is Channing tatum (I think that’s how you spell it) I’m in love with him! I think he’s amazing in all his films, especially Magic Mike *wink* *wink*

Justin Bieber, I’m not a super fan of him I would just like to see what it’s like being one of the most famous singers.

‘Dare to dream’ Because sometimes it’s scary to follow your dreams because you’re scared of failure but sometimes you just have to get over your fear and just go for it.

Starting A New School

Trust me your first day starting a new school, especially secondary school, is always going to be scary no matter who you are. There's only one bit of advice that I can give you and that is to be yourself and I know everyone says this but it’s true. Now having said that remember no one knows you, they don’t know if you were loud, bossy, shy or polite in your old school. It’s a completely new start. You can be whoever you want to be. If there are aspects of your personality that maybe you didn't like then this is your chance to change that. I don't mean change everything about you and act like someone you’re not because who wants to go around pretending to be someone else. What I’m saying is, this is your chance to be who you want to be. If you've always been quiet and you’re fed up of always blending into the background then this is your chance to act confident. If you're at a new school then no one will know any different if you start acting confident they'll think you've always been like that.

Just remember starting at a new school is like being given a fresh canvas, the possibilities are endless. Take this scary experience and turn it in to something incredible, take control. XX

5 things that made up my childhood

I was born in 1997 so to be honest I can't remember the 90's so I think that makes me a 00's kid. These are five things that made up my childhood leading up to the present day because technically I’m still a child.

1.      Tamagotchi's- I remember having one in primary school and the teachers banned us from taking them to school. So I had to give it to my mum to look after while I was at school and she kept forgetting about it so when I came home it would be dead. You became one of the most popular kids if you had the guts to take it to school in your school bag.
2.      Club penguin- almost everyone had a club penguin and I remember spending ages on that game where you had to catch the coffee bags, it was so cool.
3.      Come outside- this was my favourite TV show of all time, I wanted a dog like pippin and an aeroplane so much every time I watched it.
4.      The Wishing Chair Collection- This was one of the many Enid Blyton books that I as addicted to as a kid. Other books included, My Naughty Little Sister and all The Famous Five books.
5.      The Freedom- this is a bit cheesy but serious I miss not having to worry about anything. I know that I don’t have an awful lot to worry about now because I don’t have to worry about bills and a job, but compared to a few years ago I have a lot more to think about, I’m starting SIXTH FORM in September, and that’s crazy!

5 facts about me

I couldn't think of anything else to write about. I was trying to think of something cool that I knew about so I could share my wisdom about it, then I realised that I know quite a lot about myself. So here are 5 of the weirdest thing about myself that I could think of (there’s probably stranger stuff about me but this is all I can think of at the moment)

1.      I have pictures of Narnia stuck to the back of my wardrobe, so that whenever I open my wardrobe it’s like I’m entering Narnia... I can’t even say I was little when I put them up, it was actually quite recently.
2.      If I could have any job in the world I would be an actor. Who wouldn't want to fly around the world meeting famous Hollywood actors for money!
3.      I hate fizzy drinks. Sometimes if forced I can just about tolerate them, but I wouldn’t choose to drink them. They're just so weird and they make your nose tingle which is unnatural.
4.      I talk to my self... ALOT. And I don't just mean an occasional word. I regularly have full on conversations with myself I’ll have a discussion while doing my make-up about the dream I had that night and what it meant. The advantage of this is I don’t judge myself about what I’m saying and how weird it getting and I never ignore myself!
5.      Lastly I like apples but i never eat them. Obviously I have eaten them before or I wouldn't know that I didn't like them. Even if they’re in the fruit bowl I don't eat them.
You probably think I need some sort of professional help after reading that but I was trying to think of the weirdest facts and actually some things I thought of were so weird I didn’t write them. Try think of 5 of the weirdest things about you. Until next time bye J xoxo

p.s. Well done for reading this far. If I’ve entertained you this long then surely that deserves a followJ
